Division Requirements

EMS Division

  1. Must be certified or be enrolled in a certification class within one year.

  2. Must be a minimum of sixteen (16) years of age.*

  3. Attend monthly business meetings.

  4. Attend department fundraisers.

*Mentor Members are candidates NON-CERTIFIED and/or age 16-17. Any interested applicant that is currently certified by NCOEMS or NAEMT will be eligible for probationary membership and by-pass Mentor Membership status.


Rescue Division

  1. All applicants and members of the Rescue Division are to have a minimum certification of NCRT-VMR or NC-ERT.

  2. All applicants and members of the Rescue Division are required to be a minimum of eighteen (18) years of age, due to the High risk involved in division operations.

  3. Each member of the Rescue Division are required to obtain and maintain the EVD (Emergency Vehicle Driver) certification or obtain the certification within six (6) months of membership.

  4. A minimum of 36 hours of training to maintain membership which is further defined in SOG 302.

  5. All new applicants are preferred to have a minimum of one (1) year of experience in Rescue/Fire services

Dive Team Division

  1. All applicants and members of the Dive Division are to have a minimum certification of Open Water Diver.

  2. All applicants and members of the Dive Division are required to be a minimum of eighteen (18) years of age, due to the High risk involved in division operations.

  3. The Dive Division will NOT have a junior member classification due to insurance liabilities and certification guidelines prohibiting anyone under the age of eighteen (18) receiving certifications for dive operations.

  4. A yearly minimum of 12 logged dives as well as an annual swim test to maintain membership which is further defined in SOG 403.
